Questions To Know The Answers To Before Buying Your First Side-By-Side

Roomier than the typical four-wheeler and far more comfortable to ride in, side-by-side vehicles are easily one of the most highly sought after recreational vehicles of the times. These vehicles, often referred to as UTVs, are versatile and capable of taking you well off the regular roadways and into the fields or wilderness. Before you start shopping for your new UTV, there are a few questions you should know the answers to in order to guide your purchase.

What will be the primary usage of your UTV?

Will you be using the UTV sheerly for recreational purposes? Do you plan to use the UTV for hunting? There are a lot of reasons to buy a UTV, and you may even want one of these recreational vehicles for multiple purposes. However, having a good idea of how the vehicle will be used will help you track down the features that will be best for you. For instance, a UTV with a small bed will be great for hunting if you tend to go after larger game like whitetail deer or elk.

Who will be riding with you in your new UTV?

It's easy to see a nice wide side-by-side with four or six seats and get excited about just how many people you could haul along with you on an adventure. However, if you will mostly be traveling with only one passenger, there's no need to go for the bigger UTVs. Larger models are great if you have kids or a family that will usually be with you, but if most of those seats will be empty when you go out, you'll be much better served with a smaller version that is not going to use as much fuel and will get you through smaller pathways.

What is your ideal budget for a new UTV?

This is where the rubber meets the proverbial off-road path, so to speak; how much money do you want to spend on your new side-by-side vehicle? The price ranges on these vehicles can be especially broad. Base models can start around $8,000 and go up to around $15,000, but some of the higher-end models can run you as much as $30,000. Of course, it is never a good idea to shop solely by price, but knowing your price range will ensure that you know what models are going to be affordable for your budget.
